Selecting the best ingredients for our range isn’t as simple as just picking from a list. The ingredients used in Nuasan products have been carefully selected and validated by our formulation chemists. Each product in the range contains Natural Active Ingredients, meaning they are biologically active and have a beneficial effect on the body. These ingredients are not here for show, they each have a role.
It’s not just the active ingredients that make Nuasan so effective, but it’s what we don’t include that ensures it’s gentle on the skin.
Sulphates (e.g. SLS and SLES) have long since been used as a cleansing detergent in cosmetic products, included to lather up and rinse away oil and dirt. The problem with sulphates is it they can remove too much natural oil from the skin. If your skin is sensitive, they can leave it feeling dry, itchy and irritated. The cleansers used in our products are naturally derived from glucose and coconut, which are gentler alternatives.
Nuasan products contain paraben-free naturally derived microbial growth inhibitors which stop bacteria from forming while being kind to the skin. Not only are they better for the skin but also better for the environment because once they wash down the drain, they break down easily in comparison to synthetic components.
None of the ingredients we use or our formulation are tested on animals nor do we use any animal derived ingredients so all our formulations are vegan friendly (yay!).

CBD is a non intoxicating cannabinoid and does not induce a "high". THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the compound responsible for the "high" associated with cannabis. Nuasan CBD Muscle Gel is certified THC free.

Arnica is well known for its ability to reduce swelling and offer pain relief. It is frequently used by people suffering from sprains, strains, fractures and other injuries to help with swelling, bruising and pain. Studies have shown that applying arnica after exercise results is less pain and muscle tenderness. Arnica montana flowers contain helenalin (a sesquiterpene lactone) that has anti-inflammatory action and soothes and renews skin after exposure to stress.

Bamboo is a natural astringent which means it has the ability to tighten pores and reduce redness. It is also an antioxidant and delivers moisturising and skin softening benefits without exposing the skin to osmotic stress.

Magnesium is a mineral that is essential to the correct functioning of over 300 biochemical processes in our bodies. It is essential for muscle function, energy production and for allowing absorbtion of calcium for maintaining bone strength. Providing the ideal amount of magnesium means your body will be more supple, will resist fatigue for longer and will better repair itself. Magnesium also improves skin barrier function, which helps retain skin moisture.

Macro-algae contain more minerals than terrestrial plants and contain a rich selection of trace elements, amino acids and polysaccharides (natural sugars). Macro-algae stimulates the renewal of damaged skin cells, has natural anti-cellulite and anti-inflammatory properties.

Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) which can be found in sour milk. AHAs encourage the skin to slough off its old, dead skin cells by breaking down the “glue” between cells meaning the healthy skin cells below are revealed. Lactic acid works on the surface of skin and causes less irritation than some of the other AHAs. It softens skin, improves skin tone and helps control oil production and breakouts. It also modifies the pH of our formulations making them closer to the pH of our skin. By promoting the natural pH of our skin, we can help our body naturally restrict colonisation by pathogenic microorganisms and encourage the persistence of a healthy skin microbiome.

Peppermint contains menthol which has a cooling effect on the skin. Used topically, peppermint has calming, anti-inflammatory effects and helps to relieve itchiness. Peppermint also has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties.

Macadamia oil is a non-comedogenic oil (doesn’t block pores) that is absorbed well without feeling greasy.
Macadamia oil contains squalane and oleic acid (omega 9) which aids cell regeneration and is softening on the skin. Palmitoleic acid and phytosterols are also found in macadamia oil which are beneficial for wound healing, scratches and burns, itchiness and redness.

Tea tree oil is commonly used for its anti-bacterial properties and is found in many acne and antiseptic products. It is also known to have anti-inflammatory effects making it useful for soothing and relieving irritated skin

Oat extracts are added for their soothing and moisturising properties. Oat is particularly soothing for sensitive, irritable skin. It helps restore moisture levels and forms a protective layer on the skin. Oat contains polysaccharides (long chain sugars) that bind water and hydrocolloids that hold moisture against the skin.

Aloe vera is soothing and has the ability to reduce skin inflammations and helps the skin heal more rapidly.
Due to the dry climate that the Aloe vera plant is native to, it has an incredible ability to store water. The high water content in aloe vera makes it ideal for hydrating, soothing and cooling skin

Thymol is a chemical constituent of thyme oil extracted from the herb thyme. Thymol posseses anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties

Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin which can be found in the leaves of green vegetables and certain plant oils. It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin healing properties making it suitable for soothing irritated skin.
